If you saw my post last week about Sardinia, I was complaining that we didn’t quite match with the beach town of Olbia. It wasn’t what we were looking for in a relaxing beach week. I felt a little bad for complaining so much, so now I need to write a blog post praising a new place for us. Stoupa, Greece is EXACTLY what we were looking for. The weather was perfect, 84 degrees every day and 72 degrees in the evening. The calm crystal clear waters in the bay was just right for cooling us off. We were in the water all 5 days that we were there. We found some free beach chairs and umbrellas and our waiter kept the half liters of wine (4 euros) and half liters of draft beer (5 euros) coming all day.
We had a nice Airbnb with a good kitchen that we ended up not using to cook. There is a string of 15 restaurants along the beachfront in Stoupa that did not disappoint. Nothing was too expensive (10-15 euros per dish) and every restaurant was giving us great Greek food. We tried a different restaurant for lunch and dinner for all 5 nights and didn’t get disappointed.
This should be a short post because we really didn’t do much this week. Somehow, we did walk at least 10,000 steps a day. We walked along fantastic bike trails to the nearby towns. Walking through olive groves and along beach paths. One day, we drove up to the local olive oil factory and took a quick self tour. But mostly we just hung out in Stoupa. I just need to share these photos from our walks.
We are now on the Greece bandwagon. Stoupa is definitely on the place to where we can come back for a month or more. But there are so many other places that we have to find. Affordable food and wine, fantastic beaches, and great weather into October are huge attractions for us. We are already looking at places to return. Next stop- Mystras Byzantine ruins (UNESCO stop #118) on our way to Nafplio.
Thanks for the pro tip 😎🌈
